The Charming cottage “Le Pressoir”****, near Saumur, in the Loire Valley, close to the Châteaux of the Loire, for 10 persons.
A vast 55 m² living room occupies a large part of the ground floor of the Pressoir gîte****. This bright living room benefits from the morning sun and offers a beautiful view of the château. All the walls are made of tufa stone, which keeps the room cool in summer. The living room includes a cosy sitting area with a fireplace, a dining area with the old kitchen table from the 16th century and a fully equipped open plan kitchen with a work surface covered with beautiful old tiles. A large double-sided wood-burning stove completes the electric underfloor heating of this space. Further on, a corridor leads to a linen room, a toilet and a large double bedroom with bathroom.
On the first floor, a corridor leads to 2 large triple bedrooms, a double bedroom, a shower room and a WC. The old beams have been preserved and give this 132 m² gîte its charm.
Outside, you have a private garden of 1200 m² and a landscaped and enclosed terrace of 120 m² with barbecue. It is in this very well exposed and sunny space that you will enjoy the sun with a good drink.
In 1666, the archives of the Pressoir describe it as a smallholding with a barn, stable, vineyard land, all for 25 arpents. Later, in 1710, this fiefdom of high justice included 90 arpents of vines and woods, and 2 press rooms, one of which was located in the living room of your gîte. The presses were used until 1850, when the Phylloxera came and destroyed the vineyards of the whole of Europe.
